Becketts Ridge Halloween 2023

Despite the threat of cold and rain, nothing could keep our little goblins and ghouls from trick or treating this year. Luckily, the rain moved on and a simple coat and cap kept everyone warm enough to enjoy Beckett’s Ridge annual trick or treating. This year, the neighborhood outdid itself with lights, decorations, inflatables, and a lot of boos and creepiness to go around. Please take a minute to view a small sampling of the neighborhood vibe.

Happy Socktober, Beckett’s Ridge!

socktober

The BOD of the Beckett’s Ridge HOA would like to invite all BR homeowners to participate in our first (and hopefully annual) Socktober sock drive. Since the first Socktober in Arkansas in 2011, the Socktober campaign has spread worldwide gathering donations for homeless shelters and other organizations that provide for those less fortunate.

The BOD has communicated with folks at Orange Congregation in Mission (OCIM on Millstone) who are very excited to work with us. Please note their specific donation details:

1.  All socks must be NEW and ideally have the tags that indicate size and material so they can distribute them appropriately.

2. Greatest needs are socks for Adult Women, Children, and Infants.

3.  Socks can be (a) dropped off at the Ferris home – 2301 Woodbury Dr. in the Socktober Bin on the front porch OR (b) you can place an Amazon order addressed to “Ferris family – SOCKTOBER” (same address). Thank you, Ferris family. At the end of the month, we will deliver them all together to OCIM!

4. Just think – if every home in Beckett’s Ridge donates just one pair of socks, we will help over 200 people!

Thanks in advance, neighbors!

South Churton Street Multimodal Corridor Study

The town of Hillsborough is conducting the South Churton Street Multimodal Corridor Study to develop design concepts that contribute to the town’s character while respecting the goals of a state-funded project to widen the road from Interstate 40 to the Eno River. Learn more about the state’s project plan.

This project will involve expanding Churton Street from the intersection with business 70 all the way down to the I-40 exit on old NC 86. It also plans to improve pedestrian routes, and entry/exit from the many businesses along the route.

Although the project is not slated to break ground until FY2032, it is important to share your thoughts. There is an upcoming event hosted by the town on September 6th & 7th (time and place tbd) where town citizens can meet with city planners to share their concerns/ideas. Board members will be attending this event, so if you are unable to make it, please reach out to Sentry Management to ensure your board members hear your concerns.

The South Churton Street Multimodal Corridor Study is asking for input from Hillsborough and Orange County residents by asking you to take this survey.

Beautification of Entry Way

Kudos to Board members Derrick Nantz and Audrey Gill for the design and implementation of the beautification of our BR Entryway on Hwy. 86. The new plants are perennials which means they will not need to be replanted every year and they are drought tolerant which will require less watering. These two features will save BR in maintenance costs. Plants (not all seen in photos) include: Edgeworthia chrysantha, “Ruby Falls” Redbud, Helleborus “Ice n’ Roses,” Tassel Ferns, “Sparkling Burgandy” Pineapple Lily, Hemerocalis “Secure Borders,” Crinum “Ellen Bosanquet,” and Euonymous “White Spire.” Make sure to check them out when you pass by (and here are some photos in case you miss them).

First Annual Cookie Walk a Great Success!

Although December 17th brought a bit of winter chill, it wasn’t enough to keep Beckett’s residents inside during the first Annual BR Cookie walk.  Twenty-nine homes participated in providing a broad array of cookies and treats with BR BOD members staffing the coffee and hot chocolate stations at the playgrounds – complete with music and decorations. And a rough count found over 100 homeowners strolling the streets. See photos for a sampling of the fun.
